About us

Home is where the heart is. I had the privilege of growing up in Chelsea, Québec on the beautiful Gatineau River, enjoying skiing, hiking in the Gatineau Park, the Gatineau River Yacht Club, Chelsea Soccer, and fishing from a young age. The landscape and all it has to offer has left an indelible imprint on me and has shaped the person I have become. In my late twenties, I moved a few minutes north of Chelsea to Alcove, Quebec, to live with my husband on his family farm. We still live on the farm with our two young children.

I achieved a strong educational background through studies at Ottawa University, obtaining a bachelor with split major of psychology and criminology (2006); completing the National Law Program, studying both Civil Law and Common Law (2011); and finishing a Masters in Notarial Law (2012) to become a Notary in the province of Québec. I was called to the Chambre des Notaires du Québec in April 2013 after working and articling in Wakefield, Quebec, during which time I received a strong practical grounding.

In May 2013, I opened my practice in Chelsea because I am passionate about our area and love to work with community members, helping them navigate life’s important moments. Setting up practice in the Gatineau Hills is my way of giving back to the community who has given me so much for so many years.

I have the pleasure of working along side my colleague Barbara Morin, an invaluable member of the team with many years of expertise and a true breadth of knowledge. We are a small but efficient team, and take pride in taking care of our clientele.

I enjoy getting involved to support local efforts, charities and not-for-profits. In the past I have been involved with the administration of different local community centres, Commerce Chelsea, and the Des Collines Health Foundation. I have also acted as a volunteer legal supervisor for the Clinique de droit notarial de l'Outaouais, a clinic run by the University of Ottawa law students in Gatineau (Hull), Québec. Proud founder of the masquerade event, Get Into Bed with Des Collines Health Foundation, with the help of an amazing group of local women! I am also a proud supporter of the Ski at School program, founded by my father, Paul “Boomer” Throop.

We are here to help, and look forward to working with you.
